Enough people have written in about the podcast and media content asking about copyright related issues.  The most common questions, typically, begin with "Can I...".  In short, people want to know how these can be used and shared in practice, lectures, or educational use.  This post is intended to provide an explanation of rules.

Any and all videos posted within the podcast feed or YouTube channel are under a Creative Commons license agreement.  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

By this, users/viewers:

You are free:

• to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
• to Remix — to adapt the work
•  

Under the following conditions:

• Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work). 

• Noncommercial — You may not use this work for commercial purposes. 

• Share Alike — If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one. 

With the understanding that:

• Waiver — Any of the above conditions can be waived if you get permission from the copyright holder.
• Public Domain — Where the work or any of its elements is in the public domain under applicable law, that status is in no way affected by the license.

They are copyrighted under a Creative Commons license: http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/ and are therefore "Fair Usage".  So proper credit would allow you to utilize individual images or muted video playback with your lecturer's own explanation.  (I refer to that as the "Play by Play", playback).  Our entire current collection is under this Copyright agreement, as well as new content added to the centralized podcast/youtube feed.

Ultimately, this means that lectures, presentations, informed consents, patient information, and educational distribution are all perfectly legal.  What is not legal is to sell, exploit, plagarize this or any of the DrGlass.org podcast content.
